Our Wines

Welcome to the land of Blue-Merle Country Living and our winery, the Blue-Merle, located in San Diego County, CA.  The vineyard is located 42 miles from downtown on a steep rocky hillside 1,625 ft. above sea level with a unique micro- climate and panoramic views of surround mountains and the Pacific Ocean which sends cooling breezes most afternoons. There are five distinct soil types each planted with a varietal to capture the characteristics of  the land: Tempranillio (on harsh, rocky red clay), Grenache (on a decomposed granite slope),   Aglianico (on a sandy, DG mix at the top of the hill), Petite Sirah (on silty soil at the bottom of the hill) and Zinfandel (on an inhospitable ridge of compact, brick-like DG). Also featured on the grounds are a Protea Garden, Lavender Fields, olive trees, a theological garden, the "Man In The Rock" boulder, and the "Fence de Lum" -- a grove of Zinfandel vines growing freely along a fence named for San Diego's winemaking legend Lum Eisenman.
